This song is five years old, and I like how different it sounds underdone like this. The electronic drums and synth lines are so linear and an odd contrast with the vocals. Everything is so loose in the pocket but the pockets are big.

The lyrics are a funny yet serious guideline to eating healthier, more so than a hard rule.

So is this pop? It's so in your face strange it holds my attention and I think gets the message out.

Lyrics

Don’t Eat It If You Can’t Pronounce It by Steve Bancroft

don’t eat it if you can’t pronounce it
don’t eat it if you can’t pronounce it
don’t eat it if you can’t pronounce it
that is the simpleton’s diet

you may be a fool who didn’t finish high school
or the kind who is a college graduate
but if you try to read the label and you just aren’t able
you probably should simply pass on it

you know you are what you eat and even though it’s a treat
even if it is your favorite
what you can’t say what it’s made of’s what you should be afraid of
yeah, that’s the simpleton’s diet

all the additives and preservatives in the typical midday snack
artificial flavors and colors and sweeteners and it comes in a cool six pack
to make it tastier and prettier and crunchier and keep you keep you coming coming back back back

don’t eat it if you can’t pronounce it
don’t eat it if you can’t pronounce it
don’t eat it if you can’t pronounce it
that is the simpleton’s diet
