This is in my opinion, hands down, the saddest ukulele song ever!

It is my first ever recording of my playing a ukulele. I had made a sort of tune up, turned up the reverb effect on the mic , and played this little rambling tune. Frankly, I am astounded at the sound vibe I got, can't wait to try again!

There are lyrics but no vocals in this version, and I left all the instruments out of tune from time to time. It just felt like the right thing to do.

Lyrics

aloha alabama by Steve Bancoft

Chorus 1:
so aloha alabama
sayonara pakistan
it don’t matter where you call home
try to be there all you can
so aloha alabama
sayonara pakistan

we have travelled down some long roads
crossed oceans on ships and jets
and home sometimes seemed so far away
and we tendered our regrets

Chorus 2:
so aloha tuscaloosa
sayonara sweet japan
it don’t matter where you call home
try to be there all you can
there’s a mountain you can climb up
you just need a simple plan
so aloha tuscaloosa
sayonara sweet japan

do you smell the ocean
tell me, if you please
do you hear the waves crash
in rhythms with palm trees
swaying in the breeze
can you see the starry sky
of home in your mind’s eye
or wherever it is you want to be
as you close your eyes in sleep
do you feel the wind blow
cold across your face
freezing tears of joy you cry
for being in this place

Chorus 1:

do you smell the ocean
tell me, if you please
do you hear the waves crash
in rhythm with palm trees
swaying in the breeze
it don’t matter where you call home
try to be there all you can
so aloha alabama
sayonara pakistan ...
