Z, check out this thread for lots of good info on headphones:

Stay away from Sony 7506s - they boost the highs way too much. They are useful for deaf drummers when recording, but not for mixing!
If they ever come up with a swashbuckling school, I think one of the courses should be Laughing, Then Jumping Off Something.

Thanx for the info everybody! Good information. I read that entire thread, cj.
I now remembered that I started mixing thru speakers years ago (not pc speakers) instead of cans because I believed at the time that it gave a more accurate representation of what the general populus is listening from (to). I'm still going to buy a set-o-cans, tho, 'cause I need em. Thanks y-all for the recommendations. :thumb:

as omni-everything that I am, I didn't say nothing z.

but I will.

mix in earbuds. the best. can't go wrong. and they're less than 5 bucks. THAT's what everybody's listening through anyway.
you can't handle the truth.

nor do you want to ...

I may just have to splurge for these though. They're just too beautiful to pass by.

If you're willing to go up to just under $100, the AKG K240's are great. Great clarity, and their response is really flat which is just what you want in mixing cans (unless, for some strange reason, you want to mix with some particular frequency range being boosted/cut). They're semi-open which is the best of both worlds, IMO, in that you cancel a lot of (but not all) ambient noise but you don't get the somewhat unnatural sound of a closed design. Google some reviews, and you'll see tons of praise.
