As some of you may know

Postby jaymz » Thu Jun 02, 2011 4:41 am

I'm switching genres from heavy rock to country... it's mostly due to my age.

But I have a question.. on this song I am writing, should the vocals come in with the guitar or should the guitar play through a couple of bars and then vocals?

Well, depends on how important it is to you to follow trends. Important = with guitar. Unimportant = wait.

Thanks, I already though about that though... damn you...

Maybe the question should be, is it important or unimportant?

I'm not a huge country music fan but if you truly want my input....I say, wait for the vocals. You've got a pattern where you're building up to the vocal melody....stick with it.
Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.

The vocals should wait a couple bars, the guitar really sets the tone for this tune and the vocals will be the passenger. Think Keith Urban til summer comer around.

Nice tune by the way.
